About:
This website was developed as part of a project funded by the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, which ran from February to May 2020.
It matched words occurring in the Auchinleck Manuscript, an early fourteenth-century compilation of Middle English texts, with headwords in the Middle English Dictionary.
Our goal was to extract information about these words’ etymologies and their dates of earliest citation in English, with particular focus falling on the Auchinleck lexis having French connections.
